9 Months!!! and Meeting Hunter

UpNate:

We we have have made it to 9 months!!!  According to our daily updates, we have 27 days to go until my due date and Nate will be full term on Wednesday (remember, human babies actually cook for 10 months instead of 9?!?!).  This past Monday we had a doctor's appointment and an ultrasound, so we have a little more information about our little guy.  Nate was weighing in at around 5 pounds 15 ounces.  The doctor says he should be gaining about an ounce a day, so that means he should be over 6 pounds by now!!!  He has finally turned into a "head down" position, so we are no longer looking into having a c-section or a version (where they manually try to flip him around from breech position).  He should be measuring more than 18.5 inches or so and his body and head are right on target for my due date.  Now we just have to wait.  Here is a close up shot of his profile in the ultrasound, this is his last picture before we see the real thing!:

How am I doing?  Pretty good!!!  Tomorrow is my last day of work and then I am taking it easy until our little guy gets here.  I am getting much slower (think turtle pace) and I have definitely developed a waddle (it is not cute at all).  My plan is to get everything in order and see a bunch of movies in my time off, this is the lifestyle I think I can handle!

Meeting Hunter!
This past Sunday I had the pleasure of meeting up with the Ham family and their significant others and finally got to meet Hunter (aka "the Bee" from previous posts)!!!  He is super druper adorable and extremely well behaved.  He was happy and smiley throughout our entire brunch and only seemed the slightest bit perturbed when his monther had the nerve to change him (c'mon Beck, little boys like to be stinky and messy...hahaha).  If we are lucky enough to have a baby half as sweet as Hunter, we will be truly greatful!  Here are just a couple of pics from our meeting:

I was thisclose to stealing this little guy, lucky for Becky that I have one of my own on the way!

Stay tuned for more pictures from the shower and the nursery (which is almost comeplete...furniture will arrive on Monday!).

UpNate, Baby Shower (Part Duex), Nursery Sneak Peak

UpNate:
Good morning and happy (finally) spring for all of you in the NY/NJ/PA area!!!  It took a while, but it looks like spring has sprung!!!!  This is especially panic enducing for Kurt and me because to us Spring = baby.  The winter weather made it seem like we had more time, but there is no denying ti now.  We have spend the last week cleaning, sorting, and "ooh" and "ahh"-ing over all of the baby shower gifts we received.  It's hard to believe, but I am almost 35.5 weeks.  I almost fell off the table in the doctor's office when he told me that I would  have a full term baby in less than 2 weeks.

So what is Nate up to?  According to our newsletter, he is running out of room to maneuver now...though this does not seem to prevent him from maneuvering quite a bit.  He should be about 18 inches long and about 5 and 1/4 pounds (like a honeydew melon).  Most of his internal organs have developed and all he is doing these days is putting on weight (which seems like all I am doing too!).

As for me, I am just a bit tired.  I feel perfectly fine for most of the day, but then I'll hit a wall and need to relax.  The belly button is still holding on!!!!  Is it wrong that I am starting to think it might not pop?  (...did you hear that? it's the sound of my belly button popping as I tempt fate by typing those words).

Baby Shower (Part Duex):
There were so many fabulously talented people involved in the creation of, what I like to think of as, the perfect shower.  So here is a little shout out to some of them (tune in to the thrid and final installment of the baby shower post to see some friendly and possible familiar faces):

Baby Shower!!!

This past Saturday I was given the most amazing Baby Shower thrown by my family and my in-laws.  The friends, the family and the showering of gifts were all overwhelming and fantastic (I think Nate is pretty much set until college).  Thank you so much to everyone for making it such a perfect day (minus the tor-NATE-o outside).  Here are a bunch of pictures from the day.  I will update later with pictures of some friends and family at the event, but there are a lot of pictures...

The Decor (vintage toys!!!), Check out the cake (can you figure out which one it is?):

Here I am in all of my pregnant glory...so huge!
Me and the proud pappa!

Our hosts: my mother-in-law, my mom, me, my sister, and my sister-in-law!

In case there was any doubt to how pregnant I really was, here is a great bump shot!

This is my baby blanket (from when i was a baby)!

Next post will highlight the talents of all of the people who contributed (and there were many talented people!!!).  Thank you all again for such a great day!

8 months and counting...

UpNate:
Well folks, we've hit (and passed) the 8th month mark.  As of today I am 33 weeks or 8 months and 1 week along.  Our count down has us at 49 days to go (if Nate arrives exactly on time).  As of this week Nate should be weighing a little over 4 pounds (about as much as a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark.  His skin is still smoothing out as he fattens up a bit and his bones are getting stronger (must be all of the milk and chesse I am constantly eating.

We got a chance to see the little guy at an ultrasound last week (soory folks, no pictures to show for it, they were doing all sorts of measurements and calculations and left no time for the photo shoot I had planned on).  He looks really amazingly cute (well a little fuzzy, but you get the idea).  One thing we did learn, he has a big head!!!  I'm sure this large head is just to accomodate his very large brain, but seriously...couldn't he have big feet instead?  Yes, I am concerned about how that head is going to get from in there to out here.

I am feeling great (though big and slow).  I have lost the understanding of what my body proportions are.  My cousin Dan said it best this weekend when he said (and I paraphrase here, since my memory is also a little warped), "I have a hard time adjusting to driving Olga's (his wife) car after normally driving mine, I can't imagine having the same body for 31 years and then switching up the model".  Well said Dan, well said indeed.  As a result I am frequently bumping into things.  I am still eating popsicles at an alarming rate and pretty much anything dairy (glasses of milk being my drink du jour).

House Updates:
A lot of you have been asking about the house; "what's going on with the water?", "what about updates on the nursery?", "you never posted pictured of the office", etc.  Well here's what I've got for you: the water problem is mostly solved, we had the water proofing people out for one final time to drill and re-cement another part of the floor.  We had the HVAC people out to fix our humidifier which was leaking.  We had the water well people out to tighten up our well and water softening system in the event that that was leaking.  SO, for now, our basement is dry as the desert.  Outside of the house is another story, we had the County hydrolics Expert out to see if we are candidates for our very own drain in the front of our house...we'll keep you posted on that.

As for the nursery and other home improvement projects...we are still trying to complete everything.  We are waiting for nursery furniture, which I have been assured will be here by the begining of May.  And the office is almost complete (just working out the details).  Pictures and updates on that soon!

I guess that is it for this week (and last week, sorry things got a little crazy at work).  Some quick side notes:  the belly button is still hanging on (hasn't gone away yet), the stretch marks are much worse (they really do look angry), and Sammy still loves her ladybug (and has not destroyed it yet...hopefully she will feel the same about Nate, though we hope she doesn't try to sleep on top of him).
