We (Heart) NJ (...Nathaniel James, get it?)

For Nate's half-birthday we had a little celebration and invited his grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins (Aunt Krysty's family ended up not being able to come because they were just getting home with Shane, super cute!).  Anyway, we wanted to celebrate Nate and say THANK YOU to our families for all of their love and support.  Here are some pictures:

Nate is 6 months!!!

And here are 6 new facts about our little Nate:

1.  He is EATING.  Took a little while to work out the mechanics, but he is finally eating rice cereal.  He likes it sometimes, but other times he does not.  This week will be adding fruits and veggies!

2.  He can really sit on his own.  He was sitting and toppling over last month, but now he can sit and play and hang out all on his own...super cute!

3. He is buddies with Sammy. Each morning we go up and "visit" Sammy while she sleeps in my bed. Recently Nate has been reaching for Nate and Sammy has been inching towards Nate...it's the cutest ever!

4.  He sleeps on his side...that's pretty much it.

5.  He loves to stand.  He can stand with his hands on a table by himself (the doctor said this was okay since he cries until you let him)...he looks like a little boy!

6. He is super playful.  He loves anything with light and sounds (as always), but recently he has also been playing by himself with rolling balls around and looking at all of the intricate details of blocks (he has a little of my father in him for sure).

Shane Patrick is here!!!

On Thanksgiving day we were delighted to hear that Kurt's sister was checking into the hospital to bring a new cousin for Nate into the world.  Shane Patrick was born late on Thanksgiving and he is cute!!!  Nate was too young to come to the hospital to meet Shane the next day, but we are looking forward to their first meeting soon!  Welcome to the world sweet nephew!

Nate's 1st Thanksgiving!!!

Thanksgiving was extra special this year not only because it was Nate's first Thanksgiving but also because Nate got a new cousin (more to follow on that).  Thanksgiving was at my parents house and, as usual, was amazingly fantastic.  Here are some pictures from the day:

Meema's 60th!!!

Nate's Meema (Kurt's mom) turned 60 this month, so we had a party!!!  All of Nate's Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins from Kurt's side were there (as well as Great Aunts and Great Uncles) and of course Meema and Peepa!  Here are some pictures:

Holiday Photo Shoot

Nate had a super cute photo shoot for his holiday card (the first our family has ever sent).  Here is one of the outtakes from the session...we'll save the money shot for the actual card, stay tuned:

Happy (early) Holidays!!!

Neglectful November...

...yeah, I suck.  So I've been having too much fun with Nate to blog, sue me.  This month a lot of things happened, we turned our dining room into a playroom, Nate had a holiday photo shoot, Nate's Meema turned 60,  Nate's first Thanksgiving, Shane Patrick arrived!!!, Nate turned 6 months, and we had a mini celebration!  And now I will try to upload pictures documenting all of these events.

Hallo-weekend (aka Snowtober)

So as many of you know, this past weekend marked the first snow of the season for the East Coast but it was also Halloween, which happens to be my second favorite holiday (the 1st being Thanksgiving as previously posted).  Why do I enjoy Halloween so much?  Well that is easy;
1. You get to dress up in costumes.  Ever since I was a child, I have loved playing dress up.  Whether it was walking down the street in my Aunt Phyllis' high heels, playing in my Grandmother's jewelry and make-up, or convicing said Grandmother to send me to school in a tutu I have long been a fan of the costume.

2.  You get CANDY...enough said

3. Even creepy neighbors are nice on Halloween, they give you CANDY!

4.  Did I mention the CANDY!?!?!?

As a result of this Haloween love, I couldn't help but go a little overboard with the Halloween themed clothing, events, and celebrations this year.  Mother Nature had other plans, but we adjusted.  Here are some pics from our Hallo-weekend below:

First we went to a Halloween Brunch at Maggiano's with Grandma, Poppop, and Anna.  Nate was too little to enjoy all of the crafts and games and food, but he enjoyed seeing all of the kids and their costumes:

Next, we were supposed to go to this Halloween Farm Party, but it was cancelled due to the snow.  No worries, we had an impromptu Halloween party at our house (it's amazing how cheap you can find decorations so close to the holiday):

After the party is the after-party (aka the moments leading up to us evacuating our house and heading to Aunt Carolyn's).  Sammy gets her own pumpkin, Nate is pooped...and then a tree falls on our house:

We finally got back into our house just in time to go back to see our cousins for Halloween trick-or-treating! (also check out my pajamas)

Glow-in-the-dark Boo paci

Pumpkin-tush Jammies

First trick-or-treating house!!!

...and Skeleton jammies to end the night!

Whew, that was a LOONG post...good thing I ate a ton of Halloween candy before posting, hahaha!

Happy Halloween 2011!
